Library hires new managers for Karl Road and Parsons branches

COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has made two new hires:

Brandon Thomas has been hired to serve as manager of CML’s Karl Road Branch. He began his CML career in 2013, serving in various roles at the Hilliard, Linden, Karl Road, Barnett and Northside branches. Since 2021, he has served as manager of the Driving Park Branch. Thomas began his new role on Aug. 6. Keith Hanson, who previously served as manager of the Karl Road Branch, was hired as manager of the Canal Winchester Branch earlier this summer. CML is seeking a new Driving Park Branch manager.

Heather West has been hired to serve as manager of CML’s Parsons Branch. West began her CML career in 2012. She previously served in various roles at the Hilltop, Martin Luther King and Karl Road branches. Since 2019, she has served as youth services manager at the Parsons Branch. West began her new role on Aug. 6. Anne Heidrich, who previously served as manager of the Parsons Branch, recently shifted to a non-managerial position at the Northside Branch.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio since 1873. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
