Library celebrates one year of service at Gahanna Branch

COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) celebrates the one-year anniversary of its new Gahanna Branch today. The branch serves a growing and changing Gahanna community, equipping its residents with the tools they need to succeed.

The Gahanna Branch has:

  • 36,400 square feet of space on two floors (increased from 21,400 square feet at the former branch).
  • Interactive Children’s area with more space for programs and areas for children to read, study and use computers.
  • Ready for Kindergarten area where preschoolers and their families can prepare for kindergarten.
  • YouMedia Center for teens to connect and create with technology.
  • School Help Center where students can get free after-school help.
  • Three large meeting rooms and nine study rooms to gather and meet.
  • Job Help resources and staff to help customers navigate them.
  • Spacious Quiet Room with extraordinary views.
  • Public computers for the community to reserve.
  • Commissioned works of public art.
  • Seating areas to read and relax.
  • A robust collection of library materials to meet the community’s needs.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio since 1873. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
