COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and Black History Month with virtual and in-person programs in January and February. Customers of all ages can attend concerts and author talks and participate in activities, dancing and more. Click here for a full schedule.

New this year: Most CML locations will offer in February a Black History Month Discovery Quest, an activity that enables customers aged 7 and older to scan QR codes posted throughout the library to learn facts about people and events that shaped history.

CML is limiting the number of customers who can attend its programs to ensure social distancing. In-person programs could change to virtual programs due to public health needs or staffing challenges. Masks are required to enter CML buildings. Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a mask. All CML locations remain closed on Sundays due to staffing challenges.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio since 1873. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
