Library partners with Gateway Film Center for free movie promotion

Cardholders can watch free movies this summer

COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has partnered once again with the Gateway Film Center to bring free movies to CML cardholders this summer.

Now in its 15th year, From Book to Film offers library cardholders free admission to a series of films that were inspired by and adapted from books.

The 2025 From Book to Film series lineup:

  • May 24-25: The War of the Worlds (1953)
  • May 31-June 1: The Witches (1990)
  • June 7-8: The Wizard of Oz (1939)
  • June 14-15: The Iron Giant (1999)
  • June 21-22: Matilda (1996)
  • June 28-29: The Wild Robot (2024)
  • July 5-6: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
  • July 12-13: Shrek (2001)
  • July 19-20: Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
  • July 26-27: The Goonies (1985)
  • Aug. 2-3: Jumanji (1995)
  • Aug. 9-10: The Last Unicorn (1982)
  • Aug. 16-17: The Labyrinth (1986)
  • Aug. 23-24: The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)
  • Aug. 30-31: The Neverending Story (1984)

From Book to Film screenings occur every Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 31. Admission is free (for up to four people) with a library card.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio since 1873. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
