COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has hired Kate McCartney as manager of its Northside Branch. She officially began her new role on Monday, April 18. She is new to CML.

A Columbus native, McCartney most recently served as assistant director at Marysville Public Library. Before that, she served in Youth Services roles at Marysville and also at Upper Arlington Public Library.

She is also active in the Ohio Library Council and is an Action Council member in its Management and Administration Division.

The previous manager of the Northside Branch, Adam Hochstetler, left CML earlier this year.

With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like School Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge and Ready for Kindergarten. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources.
