Library joins Columbus City Schools and Panera Bread to collect books to place on school buses

Plus, special drive-up event to be held Sept. 23

COLUMBUS—Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) is partnering with Columbus City Schools (CCS) and Panera Bread to collect new or gently used kids’ books for the Books on the Bus program, with the goal of putting a box of books on each of the district’s schools buses.

Donation bins can be found at each of CML’s 21 branches beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 26. Customers can ask a staff member for more information.

The collection period will end on Monday, Sept. 21. Then, on Wednesday, Sept. 23, CML, CCS and Panera Bread will hold a special collection event at the German Village Panera Bread at 684 S. High St. Customers who drive by and drop off new or gently used kids’ books between 7 a.m.-2 p.m. will receive a coupon for one free pastry at Panera Bread.

Last year, CML collected nearly 5,000 kids’ books in support of Books on the Bus.
