More Baths, Less Talking
by Nick Hornby
August 30, 2012

You may have read Nick Hornby's books, About a Boy or High Fidelity, or you've seen the movies based on these books.  Hornby also writes a book column for The Beliver journal.  The column is great - snarky, yet full of great titles to consider as reading candidates.  These columns have been compiled into four different volumes.  I just read the latest one and once again had great fun following Hornby on his reading adventures.

Many of you have probably already read this great book but I just stumbled across it.  Talk about fun with words and literary concepts - even though it is written for kids, there is much for adult readers to enjoy and chuckle over.

Cop to Corpse
by Peter Lovesey

Nothing like a good police procedural and Lovesey is tops in this genre. Series still feels fresh and intriguing even at number twelve in the line up.

Just like librarians, independent booksellers are great book lovers and always have a favorite book to suggest.  This book compiles 50 best read lists from over 25 different independent bookstores across the country. I had great fun finding things that I had already read. Of course I also now have a huge list of stuff to find and read!!!  Not enough time in the day for all of the good books out there.

Liar & Spy
by Rebecca Stead
August 10, 2012

My favorite book in the world is Harriet the Spy and so when I see other titles that have that feel to them, can't wait to try them out. My latest find is Liar & Spy by Rebecca Stead.  Georges has moved into a new apartment in Brooklyn with his family.  As he takes empty boxes to the basement, he sees the sign, "Next Meeting of Spy Club", and so begins his spy adventures.

The Expats
by Chris Pavone

I can see this spy thriller being made into a movie.  Great action and setting plus the hook of a family that has many secrets.  Mom's a spy???

Loved this book! Big sprawling novel with a variety of characters whose lives overlap and intersect; story of the recent global financial downfall and the ripple effect it had/has. Definitely will make my favorite reads list of 2012.
