Annual Genealogy Conferences 2010

There are several annual conferences coming up this Spring that you should know about.  I've been to these at various times through the years and cannot say enough about how well organized they are, the variety of programming offered and opportunities to meet new people.  I never fail to learn new things and network with others who share my passion for genealogy both from a personal research and professional perspective.

The Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) will hold it's Annual Conference "Guiding Your Way Through the Past" from April 22-24, in Toledo, Ohio.  This is one of the best state genealogy conferences in the U.S.  Central Ohio's Amy Johnson Crow will be in good company as one of the many well known speakers at this years conference that also includes Curt Witcher, and John Humphrey.

The National Genealogical Society's (NGS) annual conference will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah this year from April 28 thru May 1.  The theme for 2010 is "Follow Your Ancestral Trail".  There's something for everyone from beginners to advanced researchers and you'll have the opportunity to hear nationally recognized speakers such as Barbara Vines Little, Thomas Jay Kemp, Dick Eastman and many more share their experience and expertise.  What better place to to be this year for NGS than Salt Lake City where the world's largest genealogy library (The Family History LIbrary) is located?   So register, pack your bags and head west to "Follow Your Ancestral Trail" for a great time and opportunity to hone your genealogical skills.

A little closer to home is The Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) will hold their 2010 Annual Conference "Rediscovering America's Frontier"  in Knoxville, Tennessee, August 18-21.  This is another conference that anyone from beginners to expert researchers would benefit from attending and taking the opportunity to hear speakers like Elizabeth Shown Mills, Thomas W. Jones and others share their knowledge.
